Fort Calgary

Fort Calgary is the birthplace of the city of Calgary where, in 1875, the North West Mounted Police built a fort at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow Rivers. This site is known as Mohkinsstis (Blackfoot), Wîchîspa (Stoney), and Guts’ists’I (Tssut’ina), and here in Treaty 7 territory, we continue to walk in the footsteps of our Indigenous and non-Indigenous ancestors in a spirit of cross-cultural sharing.
